American Soprano Courtney Ross was recently heard as Fiordiligi in Cosi Fan Tutte with International Opera projects in Berlin and Violetta in La Traviata with the Teatro la Vittoria and L’orchestra Cameristi del Montefeltro in Ostra, Itlay.
Ms. Ross has sung both leading and supporting roles with companies such as the Bremen Philharmonic, Fort Worth Opera, New York Opera Exchange, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Opera Singers Initiative, Bel Cantanti Opera, West Bay Opera, the National Philharmonic, Opera Moderne, Opera San Jose, The Stockton Opera & Symphony, the Waterford Concert Series, and the Santa Cruz Chamber Symphony.
Roles of note include: Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, Antonia in Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Giulietta in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Adina in L'Elisir d'amore and Hannah in Die Lustige Witwe.
Having a strong appreciation for contemporary classical music and new music, Courtney has been involved with several collaborations including the world premiere of Jorge Martin’s Before Night Falls in which she sang the role of the Moon. This opera premiered at Fort Worth Opera and was recorded by Albany records. While in Germany she was one also a member of Solistenensemble PHØNIX16 who specializes in new music and is based in Berlin.
In May 2014, Courtney successfully competed in the Riccardo Zando International Vocal Competition, which lead to her being cast last minute to sing Violetta in La Traviata that summer. Other honors include a Concert Artist Award from the Metropolitan International Music Festival Vocal Competition, a Fielder Grant scholarship, as well as a grant from the Anna Sosenko Assist Trust.
Courtney is a graduate of the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music where she received her Masters in vocal performance. She is also a recipient of the Cecilia Award for Vocal Excellence from Shenandoah Conservatory where she completed her bachelor’s degree.
